Marketing Talent in Iowa
Yesterday, I drove from my office Highland Park, Illinois (a northern suburb of Chicago) to Davenport, Iowa for a new client. It was a refreshing drive through the green farmlands of our “breadbasket of the world,” albeit a long one – three hours to and from (six hours in all) in one day.
In Davenport, I found that the client had paid a huge amount of money to several local “marketing firms.” Both created a 4-page brochure for him. That was their idea of marketing. When I recommended a marketing plan — research, analysis, strategies, tactics, budget, timetable, and feedback — for FAR less money, the new client was delighted. This tells me that there is not a lot of high-level marketing going on in Davenport or nearby Bentendorf, Iowa or East Moline, Illinois (on the other side of the Mississippi River).
Listen folks, distance is no longer a factor. For about $50, you can buy a good Logitech web cam, with software included, install it (you can do this yourself in a few moments — it is that easy), and see/meet with most any marketing firm, anywhere in the world. You can buy this online from Staples.
We are still in the midst of an awful recession — our economic recover won’t even BEGIN until August (today is June 11). Money is hard to come by. If you are ready to get aggressive again now, so your company will reap the benefits of the recovery starting in August, DO NOT SETTLE FOR ANYTHING BUT THE BEST. If you are not satisfied with your local firm(s), call or e-mail us, or any other marketing firm in the nation. And get the most bang (efficiency, effectiveness, professionalism, talent, etc.) for your marketing bucks!
